Who's Who

The Schmooze team is made up of a mix of enthusiastic volunteers and professionals who provide vital expertise to make the network happen.  It’s their job to design and run the events, make everyone feel welcome, and provide the essential introductions.  Schmooze is also supported and enhanced by the contribution of our sponsor members and strategic partners.

Phillip Jones, Founder & Director

I am the founder and director of Schmooze.

Professionally, I specialise in short-term projects including stakeholder consultation, web strategy, business improvement strategies and commuication advice generally.

I also provide networking training and mentoring for both small groups and on an one on one basis. .

With my extensive range of contacts I am available to provide and facilitate discreet professional introductions.

In what spare time I have, I love to read philosophy, military history and the Harpers, Salon and the New Yorker magazines. I also love to add & subtract from my wine cellar and perfect my martinis!

 


Joelle Collard, Chair, Schmooze Young Professional Group Council

I am currently employed as a Strategy and Change consultant with IBM’s Global Business Services, presently focussed on analysing clients business processes with a view to develop and facilitate management strategy and organisational change.

I have a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing, Management and Business Information Systems) from The Australian National University.

My current role with Schmooze is as Chair of the Schmooze Young Professionals (SYPG) Council.

 

 

 


Kaliegh Blake - Deputy Chair, Schmooze Young Professional Group Council

 

Kaliegh Blake is the Director of Balance- Personal Lifestyle Assistant a personal concierge and lifestyle management business based in Canberra.

Kaliegh has a background in marketing/PR has dabbled in the public sector and is now intent on bettering the lives of stressed and time poor Canberrans.

Balance- Personal Lifestyle Assistant helps people to find a better work life balance by taking care of the essential yet often time consuming tasks in our lives. Personal shopping, errand running, relocation services, small business set-up, elderly care, event management, home help... The list is only limited by the law and their clients imaginations.




 


Suzi Allen, Schmooze Young Professional Group Council

I am currently employed as a communications officer in federal government department, involved in event management, internal communication and project management.

After completing a Bachelor of Communication (Advertising/Marketing) at the University of Canberra, I travelled to Washington where I worked in the office of a U.S. Senator.

I have been a member of the Schmooze Young Professionals (SYPG) Council since October 2008.

Victoria Stewart, Schmooze Young Professional Group Council

 I currently work as a specialist recruitment executive for TPA (The Publicity Agency), my primary clients are within the Federal Government and I focus on communications related positions at all levels. The best thing about my job is building relationships with candidates and clients and I love the thrill of finding people ‘that perfect job’.

I am a graduate from the University of Canberra in Communications (Public Relations), this degree gave me the amazing opportunity to work with a not for profit on a major national fundraising event.

Having recently returned from a trip to Europe I love to travel and explore culture and love to be in the great outdoors!

 


Toni Brasting, Schmooze Young Professional Group Council

I am a design facilitator and a communications manager at the Australian Taxation Office. My job allows me to work on high profile projects, create and drive communication strategies and facilitate design conversations between diverse government and private stakeholders.

I have a Bachelor of Science (Science Communication) from the Australian National University and then moved onto a Graduate Diploma of Marketing Communications from the University of Canberra. I love meeting new people, witty conversation, guerrilla marketing and design.

 

 

Rosemary Done, Coordinator, Home and Micro Cafe Group

 

Rosemary is the Principal of Nothing but Style an interior design, project management and organising business. Nothing but Style specialises in interior design and project management and has its own team of professional trades people.

We arrange the refurbishment, set up or reorganisation of offices, bathroom and kitchen renovations, plan colour schemes and interiors and prepare homes for sale.

Rosemary is interested in international affairs and is committed to overseas aid and tries to do as much as she can when she can. She also loves to travel usually somewhere remote and buy unusual pieces for her interior design clients.


Harry, Schmooze mascot

Harry is the Schmooze mascot and when he’s not managing his bone collection assists Phillip with the day to day running of the network. He also sometimes comes along to meetings to welcome new members and assist with networking advice- no one does it better than a dog!

Every year Schmooze raises money for ARF- the people who find good homes for lost dogs at the Doggy Schmooze.
