Schmooze Professional

This is the oldest part of Schmooze and was established in 2003 to provide a collaborative environment to foster professional and business relations without the hard-sell of typical 'networking'. 

Some of the reasons people join Schmooze are to:

            • expand their professional and social contacts
            • promote their events, services and expertise
            • free access to our events in our Canberra and Melbourne Chapters
            • receive business referrals
            • create business and career opportunities.

Who Joins?

The majority (70%) of our members are senior managers or are owners of their own company aged over 35, and you can meet some of them here.

We have now over 390 organisations represented (as of June 2012) from a wide range of professions including government, professional services, marketing, media, design, film-making, training and education, ICT, entrepreneurs, the arts and not for profit sector.

Schmooze also offers a unique combination of services for our professional members to provide a personalised program of support.

Regular Activities

Schmooze hosts the following activities- these are offered for free for professional package members or at special rates:

  • The Monthly Schmooze - our flagship event each month - make new contacts and friends in a welcoming and stylish atmosphere- free
  • Business Essentials Workshops - expert business insights on a range of interpersonal business and professional skills - special rate
  • Young Professional Lifeskills - seminars on practical life skills for under 30's
  • Business Lunch Club and Networking Dinners - ideas, great company and conversation special rate
  • Schmooze@Campus- key career and interpersonal skills for tertiary students
  • Members 360 Roundtable- members only discussion and collaboration groups
  • Networking Essentials Workshops- covering tactics, strategies, social media and more
  • Salon- big ideas, facilitated networking and discussion for senior managers and business owners
  • The Canberra Region Market Place - the annual showcase event open to all- not your typical Expo!

Plus we also offer members and guests:

  • In house Events -we can assist with 'rent a crowd for your next corporate function
  • Events on Demand - ad hoc activities suggested by our members and facilitated by us
  • Professional Relations Series - master classes presented by our founder, Phillip Jones
  • In-house Master Classes - commissioned events to ensure you present your expertise to the right people

PACKAGE INFORMATION


Professional: Choose this option if you are a company, sole trader, government agency, professional assocation or educational institution and want to use your membership to promote your company's services, events and expertise through Schmooze using our website, social media, enews as well as attend our full program in any location.

  • You are also eligible to receive business referrals and leads, plus guest speaking opportunities.
  • This Package is very flexible as it allows you to share the membership up to five full time colleagues who are all considered members. It also allows your offices in other locations, like Melbourne to join at a special Associate rate.
  • You and up to five of your colleagues can attend all our Schmooze events for free.
  • Investment: $750 incl GST for 12 months / $555 for 6 months
  • We also offer 3 equal instalments for payment of the 12 month package.

Instalment Plans

  • Companies and organisations can also pay for their memberships in three 3 equal instalments for 12 month packages
  • Sole traders and young professionals - we offer monthly instalments of $70 per month (EFT only) for the Professional or Young Professional package options for 6 or 12 month committment. 

Associate: This Package has the same inclusions and benefits as the Professional Package, and is open to:

  • Registered Charities and Not-for-Profit Organisations
  • Companies based in rural & regional Australia
  • Sister offices of current Professional package members
  • Committees of Young Professional / Student organisations (the membership is shared up to 8 members)
  • Additional staff of a current members (up to five full-time staff from the same organisation)
  • Investment: $555 incl GST for 12 months / $350 for 6 months
  • We also offer 3 equal instalments for payment of the 12 month package.
