Schmooze Professional

This is the oldest part of Schmooze and was established in 2003 to provide a collaborative environment for professional and business networking. 

Some of the reasons people join Schmooze are to:

            • expand their professional and social contacts
            • promote their events, services and expertise
            • access to our events in our Canberra and Melbourne Chapters
            • receive business referrals via Schmooze as they arise
            • create business and career opportunities
            • experience a wide range of welcoming social, professional development and networking events including member-only events
            • enhance their professional, business and interpersonal skills through regular workshops
            • access member-only resources and events
            • receive a range of exclusive offers and member benefits.

Who Joins?

The majority (70%) of our members are senior managers or are owners of their own company aged over 35, and you can meet some of them here.

We have now over 380 organisations represented (as of June 2011) from a wide range of professions representing including government, professional services, marketing, media, design, film-making, training and education, ICT, entreprenuers, the arts and not for profit sector.

Prospective members also have the opportunity to meet with us to be advised on the best way to further their professional and business goals through Schmooze, please contact us to arrange a meeting with one of our team.

Activities

Schmooze hosts the following activities- these are offered for free or at member rates for our social members:

  • The Monthly Schmooze - our flagship event each month - make new contacts and friends in a welcoming and stylish atmosphere- free
  • Business Essentials Workshops - expert business insights on a range of interpersonal business and professional skills - special rate
  • Young Professional Lifeskills - seminars on practical life skills for under 30's special rate
  • Business Lunch Club - ideas, great company and conversation special rate
  • Schmooze@Campus- key career and interpersonal skills for tertiary students
  • The Canberra Region Market Place - the annual showcase event open to all- not your typical Expo!

Plus we also offer members and guests:

  • In house Events -we can assist with 'rent a crowd for your next corporate function
  • Events on Demand - ad hoc activities suggested by our members and facilitated by us
  • Professional Relations Series - master classes presented by our founder, Phillip Jones
  • In-house Master Classes - commissioned events to ensure you present your expertise to the right people

Professional and Young Professional members can attend our events at no charge, and Social members can attend our events at special rates as well as attend the Monthly Schmooze for free. In addition, members are often invited to events hosted by other members or kindred organisations at special rates.

Membership Package Information

Investment: $660 incl GST for 12 months / $450 for 6 months

  • Professional: Choose this option if you use your membership to promote your company's services, products and expertise through Schmooze using our website, social media, and enews as well as attend our full program of professional development activities in any location.
    • You are also eligible to receive business referrals and leads, plus guest speaking opportunities.
    • This Package is very flexible as it allows you to share the membership up to five full time colleagues who are all considered members. It also allows your offices in other locations, like Melbourne to join at a special Associate rate.
    • You and your colleagues can attend all our events for free.
  • Associate: This Package has the same inclusions and benefits as the Professional Package, and is open to:
    • Registered Charities and Not-for-Profit Organisations
    • Based in rural Australia and want to advertise your business and events through Schmooze, but not likely to attend our events.
    • Interstate offices of current Professional members
    • Committees of Young Professional organisations (is shared between the members)
    • Additional staff of a current members (up to five full-time staff from the same organisation)

Investment: $450 incl GST for 12 months / $225 for 6 months
