Membership Package Options
When you join Schmooze you can choose from one of three membership Packages that best reflects what you want to achieve from your involvement in our community:
- Professional: for those wishing to advertise, market their services or events, attend professional development activities and network generally for business and corporate reasons. An Associate option is also available for multiple staff of the same organisations.
- Social: for those wishing to socialise, make new friends, enjoy a range of benefits and attend the monthly Schmooze's
- Young Professional: for under 30's who want to receive all the benefits of being a member of Schmooze and attend SYPG and SYEG events.
We also offer a range of casual fees for non-members to participate in our activities- see below.
Information for Current Members
These Packages will make it simpler all around (no more paying for individual Schmooze events or keeping track of your Passes for instance).
We found from experience over the past couple of years, that the average member would end up spending similar to what we will charge under the new structure by the time they attended several workshops, dinners or bought additional member Passes, so under the new arrangements they'll be better off and enjoy even more benefits.
In addition, we also looked at organisations around Australia and what they offered (and charged) to ensure we continued to offer exceptional value in comparison to similar bodies.
We found that not only did they charged more for membership in many instances, but you still had to pay on top to attend events, and they didn't have the full range of services and opportunities or resources we deliver. And finally, we also had to ensure our operational costs were covered appropriately.
Transitional Arrangements for Current Members
Existing members have been transferred across to a Professional Package at no charge from 1 January. All current members will enjoy all the benefits specified below including not needing to pay for most Schmooze-hosted events (except some special events). All members will be considered as having the Professional Package for the sake of simplicity.
They will not need to pay for a new membership at the new rates until their regular renewal comes around and they will choose which option applies best for them then.
Member Passes
Under the new system, members will no longer have to spend their virtual Passes to add events, attend events or the like. They will be able to attend events we hosted by Schmooze for free as per the Professional Package.
The old Member Passes will be replaced with virtual Guest Passes which are to be used for allowing colleagues and friends to attend Schmooze-hosted events for free. The remaining Member Passes members had are now redundant as there will be no longer a need to keep track of them under the new system.
Those members who have six months or more membership to run as of 1 January received four Guest Passes and those with less than six months membership remaining received two Guest Passes.
These Guest Passes will be virtual and to claim them all the member needs to do is inform Schmooze they wish to use them when RSVPing on behalf of their guest to one of our events.
PROFESSIONAL PACKAGE
This option is for organisations or individuals wanting to promote their expertise, events, services or products and access professional development opportunities.
Please note, only 250 of these memberships will be offered in the ACT region at any time.
Investment: $660 incl GST for 12 months / $450 incl GST for 6 months
The total value of a 12 month package is over $2500 if you attended all our events on a casual basis, not including the additional services and benefits.
Package includes:
- Great Events
- For each membership purchased- Unlimited free attendance for one person from your organisation to Schmooze hosted events at no charge nationally including up to eight events per month including Monthly Schmooze, Workshops, Interest Groups and networking lunches or dinners (value to attend all these events is over $200 each month)
- Receive Four Guest Passes for 12 months or two Guest Passes for six months to give to friends and colleagues to attend any event for free (each Pass is worth $55)
- Access to member-only special Interest Groups discussions
- Receive a complimentary Pass for Networking Skills seminar (value $150)
- You can send a colleagues from the same organisation to attend in your place for free to Schmooze hosted events.
- Reciprocal rights with kindred networking groups interstate
- Access to member-only Interest Groups and other activities
- Discounted rates for special or Schmooze hosted social events
- Promote Your Expertise, Events and News
- Advertise through network (website and e-news)
- Contribute articles to website to showcase expertise
- Add unlimited events onto the website calendar
- Add unlimited notices or offers onto website
- The opportunity to participate in our Referral Program
- Have an online profile to provide a virtual introduction and access to contacts database with hundreds of members
- Access to online resources such as articles and special offers
- Eligible to present at professional development workshops and other events
- Eligible to sponsor Schmooze event and make commercial or promotional offers to members
- Develop Your Professional and Interpersonal Skills
- Access to the Schmooze Mentoring program (exclusive to members)
- Attend Workshops and Presentations from subject matter experts for free
- Read articles and interviews by subject matter experts
- Special rates to attend other professional development events hosted by members and kindred organisations
- Special Offers and Benefits and Services
- Receive offers and benefits advertised by other members
- Access to Schmooze social events including Schmooze Wine Club (new in 2010) (note- member hosted events may still require payment)
- Access to our exclusive Concierge service that facilitates professional introductions for you.
Associate PACKAGE (Organisation must HAVE purchaseD a PROFESSIONAL option first)
For additional staff of organisations who have already purchased a Professional Package membership
Investment: $450 incl GST for 12 months / $225 incl GST for 6 months
Package inclusions as per Professional Package including:
- Unlimited attendance to Schmooze hosted events at no charge nationally for free
- Four Guest Passes for 12 months or two Guest Passes for six months to give to friends and colleagues to attend a Schmooze event for free
- Complimentary Pass for Networking Skills seminar
- Choose from up to eight events per month to participate including Monthly Schmooze, Workshops, Interest Groups and networking lunches or dinners
- Access to member only Interest Groups and other activities for free and discounted rates for special or Schmooze social events
- Online Profile to provide a virtual introduction and access to contacts database with hundreds of members

Social Member PACKAGE
For individuals who want to participate in our social activities, and make lots of friendly new contacts in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Investment: $225 incl GST for 6 months / $450 incl GST for 12 months
- Attend the Monthly Schmooze for free
- Receive Two Guest Passes to give to friends and colleagues to attend a Schmooze event for free
- Access to events hosted by other members at special rates
- Access to Schmooze Professional Development Workshops at special rates
- Online Profile and access to contacts database with hundreds of members to meet virtually
- Access to online resources such as articles, special offers
- Can attend Professional Development events or those hosted by kindred organisations at special rates
- Access to Schmooze Wine Club (new in 2010) and other social opportunities
- Receive offers and benefits extended by other members and kindred organisations
- Note, social members cannot add events or items onto the wesbite, advertise in the e-news or attend Interest Group discussions, for those options you need a Professional Package
Young Professional PACKAGE
The option is for young professionals under 30 to attend our SYPG/SYEG events. This Package is also an excellent investment by an organisation wanting to provide professional development opportunities to their under 30's staff.

Sponsors and Staff / SYPG Council / INTEREST GROUP COORDINATORS BONUS
We'll offer a bonus for organisations who are principle sponsors or host a monthly Schmooze will receive an additional six months membership and those individuals who join the SYPG Council or assist in Coordinating an Interest Groupwho will receive six months credit and Two Guest Passes in addition to the membership package purchased
CASUAL FEES FOR NON-MEMBERS
SYPG/SYEG Events
There will still be the options for young professionals and students to attend these events on a casual basis.
- Can be purchased in bulk by organisations, companies or Government Departments at a special rate ( purchase more than 20)
- Tertiary student: $20
- Young Professional: $30
Schmooze Professional Events
Non-members can attend some of our activities on a casual basis.
- Monthly Schmooze: $55 incl GST
- Networking Lunches or Dinners: $75 incl GST
- Professional Development Workshops: $55 incl GST
