ABOUTSchmooze offers a comprehensive range of networking events and services for our members who want to cultivate rewarding professional relationships. We don't do the hard sell or in your face ads or referrals, rather we believe that business takes time and people tend to want to deal with people they like and trust all other things being equal. We offer a sophisticated and comforable environment in Canberra's leading venues to foster professional and social introductions. We offer three branches within Schmooze that members can participate in: Young Professional, Professional and Social as well as access to the online resources of this website in the Members Lounge area which includes the contact profiles of our memberships, notice boards and more. If you work, live or have business dealings in the ACT region you are invited to join the Schmooze network. We welcome professionals from all sectors and young professionals (18-29) who want to meet the most vibrant and diverse network of contacts in the region. As a member you have access to all our activities and offers, so it doesn't matter if you are a young professional, or joining for social or professional reasons you enjoy all the benefits such as free entry to our events, special offers, invitation only activities and more. ActivitiesAs a member of Schmooze you either don't have to pay for any event, or it is offered at cost to you Our activities are designed to create networking 'comfort zones' for our members and their guests ranging from young professional gatherings, seminars, invitiation only master classes and executive-level lunches and dinners. By virtue of our collaborative approach with our members/sponsors we can offer exceptional value and members can attend our events for free or at cost. We also run a range of social activities to compliment our professional events including exclusive services and events available only to members. Members can advertise their own events and activities on our website as well as offer special deals or benefits to the membership to promote their expertise. In addition, Schmooze offers mentoring and professional networking training for individuals and groups, as well as professional intermediary services to assist members in gaining access to the right people. Membership Benefits
To participate in our activities you must be a member of Schmooze, or a guest of a member. You can read about all the benefits of being a member here. They include:
- Attend most of our events for free or at cost
- Advertise your events and activities on this website for free
- Invitations to exclusive Member-only events and the opportunity to design an event that showcases your expertise
- Access to the Member database outlining the contact details and expertise of our membership
- Access to the Schmooze Concierge Service- talk to us first and we'll make the introductions for you
- Access to invitation only social Lifestyle Series events (see the Social part of the site for more info)
To join Schmooze is a simple three step process:
- Fill in the application form and press the Go button at the bottom of the screen
- Choose your method of payment - Visa and MasterCard via the Payment page, AMEX (call Schmooze with your details) or EFT /Invoice(contact us for our account details)
- Your membership starts from the date of payment. We'll then contact you with confirmation and information and activate your Members Lounge log-in.

Membership List Profile Information
To join you will be asked to provide the following information via the online application form on the left- your postal address will not be made public. A member of the Schmooze team will contact you to welcome you to the network and you’ll be given access to the Member Lounge on this site once you've paid your membership fee.
- Name
- Title
- Organisation
- Contact Phone
- Postal Address
- Email address
- Website/ Facebook etc
- Profile (a few sentences about you and your organisations professional skills/expertise)
This information is included in the Member Profile aatabase on this website which allows other members to contact you, see your interests and expertise and facilitate networking between events. It also enables you to promote you and your organisations expertise to the network.
You can update it any time by logging in to the Members Lounge.
Member Passes
To ensure they get the maximum value for their membership we have a simple system of Member Passes. Six months membership comes with Eight Member Passes and 12 months comes with 14 Member Passes. Once a member uses those up by attending events or advertising their news or events on this website they can purchase some more above.
In this way there is usually only one financial transaction to complete- when a member joins, and if they can’t always attend our events, they can take advantage of the other benefits Schmooze offers.
A Pass is spent when accessing a Member Benefit or Service
- When you RSVP or attend a Schmooze event - note if you RSVP and do not attend the event without prior notice, then a pass is spent
- Bringing a guest to an event- one Pass per person. You must be a member of the network or an accompanied guest to attend a Schmooze event. Members can bring as many guests as they like to an event.
- Advertising an event or notice on the website
- Accessing the Schmooze Concierge Service A service that is unique to Schmooze. Have you attended a function wanting to meet a particular contact or someone from a certain organisation but spent the evening talking to everyone else but? Or want to make a connection, but in a confidential and discreet way. The team at Schmooze can assist you! All you need to do is contact us prior to an event with your request or who you’d like to meet and at the event one of the Schmooze team will make the introduction for you discreetly and then the rest is up to you. At our sit-down functions we can also arrange the seating to suit a request. A Schmooze Pass is spent for each introduction made.
Additional Passes can be purchased at any time for $20.00 incl. GST each on the Member Payments page. When you have only two Passes left, one of the Schmooze team will contact you. Naturally, you can remain a member even if you don’t have Passes left! You can view how many you have by viewing your profile in the Members Lounge.
If your membership expires you forfeit your remaining Passes, but can be transferred between members- just contact us to arrange a transfer. If you are renewing your membership, any remaining Passes rolled over and added to the new ones added for your new membership. Members can see how many Passes they have left by going to the Update Member Profile page after logging-in.
