The Schmooze team in Victoria is comprised of a mix of talented and personable people who are here to answer your questions, help you make the most of your Schmooze experience, as well as design and run our program in Melbourne.  

Phillip Jones, Founder & Director

Phillip founded Schmooze in 2003 with the aim of creating a collaborative environment for colleagues and friends to develop their careers and businesses, and have a great time in the process. 

In addition to managing Schmooze, he is the director of Two Degrees Group, which provides a range of consulting services including professional development workshops and the strategic advice on the design, development and management of professional and social networks.

He's often invited to speak regularly or present training on networking and professional relations, as well as the uses of social media.

In his (spare) time he loves to read philosophy and military history and travel  He also loves to add & subtract from his wine cellar and perfecting his dry martinis!

Cath O'Connor, Melbourne chapter director

Cath has worked for over 15 years in the hospitality, training, and web development industries in product management, business development, account management, & team leadership roles. She is passionate about the customer, and believes in developing a strategic business plan that achieves sustainable, organic growth.

Cath has worked with clients and partners such as The Department of The Prime Minister & Cabinet, Department of Finance, National Water Commission, Centrelink, Hertz, Yahoo!, Telstra, Tourism Victoria, and the RACV.

Cath leads the Melbourne team in running our program of events and member services.

Cath is available to meet with prospective and renewing members to discuss how best to make the most of a Schmooze membership and answer any questions they have. She also assists with the coordination and running of our events.

Danijela Todorovic, Members Relations Manager

Danijela started her career as an archaeologist, eager to contribute to the knowledge of the ancient world. When the reality of the actual work turned out to be less like Indiana Jones and more like Antiques Roadshow, Danijela changed her professional focus to account and client relationship management which kept her happy and busy for several years.

However it was in 2006 that she found her true calling in Transpersonal Counselling and Coaching and has since helped a great number of clients achieve their personal and business goals.

As a business owner Danijela has first hand experience of the many benefits of networking, from attracting new business opportunities to acquiring new skills and ideas. Above all she has found that connecting and building positive and genuine long-term relationships through networking is what makes all the difference to one’s personal and professional growth.

Members Relations Manager

Our Members Relations Managers are key positions on the Schmooze team. We're seeking two people to grow our Melbourne chapter.

The managers are engaged on a casual basis and have a variety of roles:

• meeting prospective members and fielding enquiries
• hosting and running our events
• promoting and marketing Schmooze
• supporting our members to ensure they make the most of their membership
• assist with a range of admin functions
• represent Schmooze at external events
• contributing to our social media content and engagement.

We're looking for people with great people skills, professional presentation, and ideally a client relations, marketing, events, or hospitality background. You must be genuinely interested in helping others, and be self-motivated.

Training and mentoring will be provided, and the roles are a wonderful opportunity to meet hundreds of people. raise your own profile and have a great time in the process.  The role is paid on an hourly rate and the hours are very flexible. You will need to become a member of Schmooze, and receive a 6 month bonus membership period on taking the role.

Staff Photographer

We're seeking applications from emerging photographers to take photos of our events. You'll need to join for 6 months and we'll give you a bonus 6 months' membership in return for covering 8 events over six months. Please contact Phillip Jones with your details: phillip@schmooze.net.au
